About Us

The Women's Legal Centre provides free legal advice and services to women in Canberra and the surrounding areas. You can find more information at our website at wlc.org.au

The Centre helps women who are at risk of greater injustice, discrimination and harm or violence or who are facing financial and other barriers to accessing justice and the legal system.

We are a team of expert lawyers, social workers and paralegals who will work with women to help resolve their legal issues. We provide specialist legal assistance, wrap around and support and community education.

The Centre can help with:

  • separation and divorce
  • safe arrangements for children after separation
  • dividing property fairly after separation
  • domestic and family violence
  • migration matters
  • sexual harassment and sexual violence
  • unfair treatment at work
  • discrimination

Our Mulleun Mura program helps First Nations women access legal support in a culturally safe environment.

We help women stay connected with the legal system, and help them understand the options and choices available.

Contact our intake and advice line on 02 6257 4377 to talk to a paralegal about what issues you are having and how we can help.
