Majura Women’s Group (MWG) is a self-run volunteer organisation founded in 1981. The group was begun to provide opportunities for women in Canberra at home with young children to meet and participate in stimulating and creative activities.

Over the years this has evolved into participating in Backyard projects and have created works of art that are scattered over Canberra. As a group we all decide on what sessions we would like to participate and form our programs from those ideas.

The back yard projects over the years have been reformatted into mini backyard projects where a theme is carried out over the term. We have participated in learning new skills such as african drumming, felting, quilting, yoga, basket weaving, photography, all styles of dancing, street art, flower arrangement. You name it, we have probably done it, and if not we love a new challenge!
