About Us
Compeer is a volunteer program sponsored by St Vincent de Paul Society and ACT Health. Volunteers are matched in a one-to-one friendship with people living in the community with a diagnosed mental illness.
Participants are referred to compeer by health professionals. Referral forms can be obtained by contacting the Compeer Program Officer via email or phone.
The aim of the program is to improve the quality of life and self-esteem of participants through social inclusion, enjoyable activities and building the experience of mutual trust in a non-clinical setting.
Volunteers are provided with on-going training, a peer support program and direct support from the Compeer officer.
