About Us

Supporting young people through early intervention and prevention strategies.

STEPS is a residential program run in partnership between CatholicCare and CAMHS for young people between 13-18 years old experiencing moderate to severe mental health distress.

Young people may be referred to STEPS by GP, Psycologists/Psychiatrists directly through CAMHS (PH: 02 6205 1971) or by contacting the STEPS program (PH: 02 6262 3453, [email protected] ).

The STEPS program is specifically geared towards:

  • Young people experiencing mental illness who need support but are not assessed as requiring hospitalisation.

  • Young people experiencing mental illness that are transitioning between hospital and returning home.

STEPS provides:

  • Safe supported accommodation for up to 3 months.

  • Support to help young people stabilise their mental health issues and develop skills and confidence in managing future crises.

  • Clinical support via CAMHS.

  • Support to improve and develop life skills.

  • Assistance and support with access to education, work and community resources.

  • Assistance in enhancing relationships with parents/carers and significant others.

  • Case management, information, referrals and advocacy.

  • Limited transitional outreach towards entering the STEPS program and following graduation/exit from the STEPS program.
