About Us

Join us and take part in gathering and recording the early history of the Mt Gravatt area.

Our aim is to gather and record items of historical interest of the earlier years of Mt Gravatt and district.  You may care to contribute or lend items such as photographs, documents, clippings, short stories, early publications relating to the area, anecdotes or any other items of historical significance.

We will handle them carefully and return them to you.  These items will be used in the production of records and books of the history of the area and the mounting of displays for the benefit of the community.

Meetings are held at Mt Gravatt District Community Centre 1693 Logan Road, Upper Mt Gravatt (Bus Stop 40), between 2.00pm & 4.30pm on the second Sunday from February to November, except Mother's Day and if Easter falls on that day we meet on the third Sunday.

"MT GRAVATT THEN & NOW"

The association has published three books, "Mt Gravatt Then & Now".  An historical and pictorial look at the Mt Gravatt area between the late 1800s and early 2000s.

Volume One covers the area from Holland Road to Creek Road.  Cost to purchase is $25.00

Volume Two covers the area from Creek Road to Holmead Road (once known as Two Bridges).  Cost to purchase is $30.00

Volume Three covers stories and memories of long-term residents who, by example and effort contributed tot the establishment of modern day Mt Gravatt.  Cost to purchase is $30.00.

These books contain pictorial and historical information about people and places in our local Mt Gravatt district since the late 1800s.  We believe these books are a worthwhile contribution to the present and future communities and generations.
