Our Respite Services – Flexible – Our Place or Yours
We have two residential respite locations offering a range of options for people with a disability. Affectionately known as Brookes Street, our house is nestled near the heart of Nambour. We also have a newly appointed home located in Brendale, located on Brisbane’s northside, also offering a range of respite options.
We cater for all ages and provide support to individuals with a disability aged between 0 and 65. Centre based care for children aged younger than six years old is facilitated with individualised consultations. In Home Respite is also available.
Self direction Services – Equity Works For Me
Equity Works for Me understands that people wanting to self direct are aiming to fulfil their vision of a good life. Equity Works For Me encourages individuals and their families to have as much choice and control over their supports as possible within existing guidelines.
We work with individuals and families in a personalised way and offer the following pathway:
- A free one-on-one consultation to establish each person’s individual requirements
- If a Self Direction Agreement is established we can then assist with:
- Planning in a creative way to establish a budget that addresses the person’s goals
- ongoing support that is tailored for (and requested by) the person.
Respite Plus Initiative
A specialised program created in partnership with the Queensland Government and Inclusion Plus, this program supports 55 families who have children affected with rare condition, Rett Syndrome, living at home across the state. The program supports a range of options and approaches designed to support families in the caring role and their ongoing resilience. The families are proactive and engaged in creating positive approaches and solutions to the myriad of challenges facing them and their children.
Host Support Services provides support to families, enabling them to access suitable, flexible and individualised respite services for their family member in the Host Lifestyle Facilitator’s own home. The respite arrangements are all pre-planned visits and are ongoing throughout the year.
Older Carers Initiative
The Older Carers Initiative (OCI) was created for older carers who support a family member with a disability at home. The OCI initiative is a twofold program involving supporting or sustaining the family in their caring role and participation in planning for future accommodation options for their family member with a disability should they be unable to continue in their caring role.
The Older Carers Initiative has a flexible and innovative approach which will provide opportunities for people:
- To develop life skills based on identified aims and ambitions
- To be involved, share & enjoy social presence within the community
- Enable carers to have flexible and creative respite options
- To identify future planning needs when the carer is no longer able to support their son or daughter at home.
Accommodation Support Services provide supports for our clients in a range of in home situations. We work closely with our clients and their families to ensure that their individualised needs and supports are identified and delivered.
