About Us
Recreation Independence and Socialisation in the Community Inc.
R.I.S.C. provides one to one support so we can personalise the outing to best suit the person and their interest and their style of development.
Generally we assist people to participate in recreational and leisure activities and focus on assisting growth in the individual's skills and interest in these.
R.I.S.C. is aiming for increased life experiences, self esteem and personal growth, by providing opportunities and support to build friendships with people met while pursuing their recreational and social interests.
Consumers of RISC’s service require:
- Assistance in overcoming social isolation support in accessing new social contexts in the community
- Emotional support and encouragement
- At least one to one support to attend to personal care needs
- Supervision to avoid endangering of self
- Prompting and assisting with basic needs
RISC is funded through the QLD Department of Communities and we support 21 people at present. Future clients of the service can either use our service on a user pays basis or with an NDIS funding allocation. We are looking forward to the National Disability Insurance Scheme enabling many more people to access our service.
