Toughlove Queensland Association - Stafford

Toughlove Parent Support Groups are part of the volunteer-run, non-profit TOUGHLOVE Qld Assn Inc. 

The groups offer an understanding and safe environment, where parents can share their concerns and receive helpful information.  Parents build confidence and skills to respond more effectively to unacceptable behaviour from their kids (age 10 - adult). Behavioural concerns may include: verbal or physical abuse, drug or alcohol abuse, truanting, running away from home, persistent unemployment, law breaking etc.

Our support groups focus on empowering parents to effect positive changes for themselves and their kids, through structured, solution-focussed, weekly meetings. The meetings are facilitated by parents who have experienced similar problems and are committed to sharing the benefits of the TOUGHLOVE Program with other parents in the community.

Toughlove Qld is not a counselling service - parents use the program information, framework and group support, to help one another. Parents choose the changes that will make a positive difference in their lives and homes. The program does not offer a quick fix. It offers no guarantees, but parents who attend Toughlove meetings regularly, say that they feel less isolated, less stressed, more confident and able to respond more effectively to their kid's unacceptable behaviour.
