About Us

Art from the Margins offers creative support to artists living with disadvantage or experiencing social isolation - including living with a disability, mental health issues,or homelessness. Art from the Margins (AFTM) is an initiative of Wesley Mission Brisbane and has been operating since 2008. The AFTM art program includes a range of art workshops, professional development and mentoring opportunities, and regular art exhibitions and displays by artists. Each year AFTM partners with the Brisbane  Festival to hold a major public art exhibition, which is part of the official Brisbane Festival Program. Other initiatives include AFTM's annual Refugee Week exhibition which features the work of artists from a refugee background and AFTM's ongoing exhibition partnership with Saint Andrew's War Memorial Hospital. Since 2008 AFTM is proud to have exhibited and supported the work of more than 500 artists.
