About Us

The Half Dozen Group of Artists (HDG-Artists) was founded on 9 April 1941 in Brisbane. HDG-Artists evolved from humble beginnings. A group of 6 founding members wanted to create an environment where artists could develop their skills and techniques. Today, participants and its members attend weekly untutored or artist led workshops. Members also have the opportunity to exhibit their artworks in exhibitions and events organised by the group. One of the reasons for HDG-Artists success is that it embraces everyone from beginners through to the many professional artists who make up its membership. There are 100 + members in the group, and many more people participate in the organised activities and events.

Membership is $70 per year. Workshops cost $15 for members, $20 for non members and a student discounted rate $10. The HDG-Artists is welcoming and supportive, and encourages participants to become involved in art, and progress at their own pace. There are both experienced and emerging artists involved, and mentoring and tutoring are available if required. The workshops usually run from 10 am to 1pm, and 1.30 pm to 4.30pm. More details at the website, http://www.hdg-artists.com/
