About Us

Gidgee Healing provides a range of services from Allied Health professionals who support the health and wellbeing of our clients and their families with a holistic approach.

An Allied Health Professional is a clinician that is not a doctor, nurse or an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker. Our team consists of Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Audiologist, Optometrist and Allied Health Assistants.

Comprehensive care from our Allied Health team is offered free of charge once a referral is made via our General Practitioners. Allied Health Clinicians then work with you and your GP look after your health.

Types of care provided

A physiotherapist helps to treat sore body parts and give information to help manage sickness and disease. They can help you with:

  • Bone and muscle pain
  • Breathing problems
  • Heart health
  • Falls
  • Walking aids
  • Brain conditions
  • Pregnancy care

Podiatrists keep your feet and lower legs healthy by helping you with:

  • Diabetic feet
  • Ulcers and sores
  • Toenails (Includes cutting nails)
  • Check blood supply to feet and legs
  • Foot and lower leg amputation care
  • Arthritis (bone and joint pain)
  • Other foot diseases

Our Podiatrists can help provide free footwear and medical aids for eligible individuals.

Exercise Physiologists implement exercise and lifestyle education for the prevention and management of chronic disease, injury and disability. You might see an Exercise Physiologist at Gidgee Healing to help you:

  • Improve your overall health and wellbeing
  • Overcome persisting pain caused by injury or overuse
  • Improve your fitness
  • Lose, or put on weight
  • Improve your heart health

A Dietitian helps people to make good food choices such as learning about healthy tucker to manage your health condition.  They can teach you:

  • Portion sizes
  • Cooking for the family
  • Food and recipe ideas

A dietitian can also help you understand your health, such as Diabetes or Kidney Disease, so that you can better manage your wellbeing.

A dietitian also helps with children. Whether they are becoming fussy eaters or helping them grow strong and well.

Speech Pathologists work with people of all ages and can support you or bubba with troubles such as:

  • Talking, listening and understanding
  • Reading and writing
  • Stuttering and problems with your voice
  • Eating, drinking and taking medication

Occupational therapists work with people to make everyday living easier and to improve health. Occupational therapists can see you at the clinic or at your home and can work with you in activities such as:

  • Brushing teeth, making a cup of tea
  • Going to school, work or the shops
  • Using wheelchairs
  • Using the toilet or shower

Optometrist do a thorough check of your eyes and diagnose any eye disorders or diseases. They can also help with;

  • Pick up health disorders involving your eyes
  • Prescribe fit and supply glasses
  • Prescribe other specialist optical aids
  • Provide support for people who have lost their vision.

Audiologists evaluate and treat people who have hearing loss. They can also help with;

  • Prepare, fit and and provide hearing aids
  • Evaluate and diagnose hearing loss
  • Perform tests and screening's 
  • Provide information and advice for people suffering from hearing loss
