Disability Respite and Activity Centres

About Us

DUO's Tandem House is a respite centre located at Westwood Farm in Kambah ACT.  It's a venue for After School Care and School Holiday programs for children and young people with disability, as well as social and craft groups for adults with disability, mental ill health or chronic conditions.

Most importantly, it's a space for learning, development, social interaction and community connectivity.  A variety of fun and creative activities are held daily and overseen by our fully trained Support Workers including:

  • After School Care offering activities such as cooking, video games, arts and crafts and outdoor walks. Excursions also take place during the School Holiday Program.
  • Sleepovers and Overnight and Weekend Respite so carers can take some time for themselves. Sleepovers take place over three weekends of each month and are separated into male and female groups.
  • Weekly Life Skills Group  to encourage the development of everyday living skills such as basic home maintenance and use of community facilities.
  • Weekly Over 65’s Morning Tea to enjoy morning tea and a light lunch while socialising and indulging in a few rounds of group games.

Tandem House is an inclusive place for children and people with disability or chronic conditions, their families and carers and gives everyone a chance to have short breaks from every day life.
