At Kenmore District Kindergarten and Preschool we are: A non-profit centre offering an educational program for Pre-Prep children. Run by a Management Committee elected by parents and interested community members. Proud to be a Gowrie affiliated centre, our centre has reached high standards in the areas of staff qualifications, safety, facilities and educational programs and therefore can receive funding from Education Queensland as an approved kindergarten provider. Our Program We offer a range of government approved 15 hour kindergarten programs for our pre prep children including: 3 short day group or 2 long day group. We also offer a mini kindy program for 3 year olds. Due to government funding policy, priority is given to children aged between 3.5 and 4.5 years old, but 3 year olds will be accepted in our mini kindy program. The curriculum we follow is the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG). This guideline is based on the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and embraces the inclusive vision that “all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life”. The QKLG aims to specifically enrich children’s learning in the pre prep year. Throughout pre prep, children’s right to experience the joy of childhood is fundamental and learning is promoted through play, and emergent and planned learning experiences and interactions. We believe that children learn not in isolation but as part of a collaborative process with adults, other children and their physical environment.
