About Us

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service offers a free and confidential service specialising in the treatment of infants, children and youth 0 to 18 years of age who have, or are at risk of developing, emotional disturbance or major mental illness. The service is also available to those who are suffering from trauma, living with family members who have a mental illness, and/or who are experiencing severe dysfunction at home or school. A team of mental health professionals offer medical and psychiatric assessment of existing or possible mental health problems, design and implementation of therapy, case management, family and individual counselling, crisis intervention, and community liaison as well as education. The full range of mental health problems are catered for, including emotional disturbance, anxiety disorders, self esteem problems, eating disorders, social difficulties, psychiatric illness and related family problems. For after hours treatment of an acute mental illness episode or psychiatric crisis contact the Accident and Emergency Department of the nearest Hospital.
