About Us

Grandparents Information is a Queensland wide confidential and personalised telephone information service that provides information and referrals to grandparents. Information can be provided over the phone and posted to callers from our wide selection of fact sheets. Grandparents can be supported to contact services in their local community. Grandparents are important members of our communities. Many provide significant emotional support for family members. Others provide financial and practical assistance. Many are providing informal childcare and some are the primary carers of their grandchildren. For the cost of a local call from anywhere in Queensland contact Grandparents Information, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm on 1300 135 500. Our friendly Information Support Officers can provide you with information and/or referrals relating to any topic of concern including: parenting, legal, financial, social and leisure activities, family conflict, health, child care, aged care, counselling support and so on. Grandparents Information is not an automated telephone service. When you call us you will talk to a ‘real’ person. Grandparents who are the primary carers of grandchildren and who are not receiving the fostering allowance and not approved relative/ kinship carers with the Department of Child Safety are eligible for the program. To join the program, grandparents should contact Seniors Enquiry and Grandparents Information Line on 1300 135 500. An information officer will discuss the services offered by the program and ask basic questions to match appropriate activities and services. The details taken by the information officer are confidential.
